Coronavirus pandemic

Dear parents,

We will be returning to school on Monday 2nd of November, this will be a Halloween fun dressing up day, a day that brings great excitement for the children, maybe even more so this year as so many events have been cancelled. The children should arrive to school already dressed in their Halloween costume- please make sure younger children will be able to manage their toileting needs. We will aim to do our Halloween catwalk with all classes outdoors if possible, if the weather doesn't permit this we will do our catwalk indoors, in our hall, in small groups.

We dearly hope that we will continue to have a smooth run this term until the Christmas break. We have had a great start to the school year, it has been really lovely to see the children settle back into the busy school routine.  We will continue to maintain the levels of social distancing, hand-washing, split breaks, split lunches, staggered arrival and departure times, reducing materials from home/school...and we really appreciate your support in this joint effort. We are making every effort we possibly can to ensure the safety of our pupils and our school staff. Thank-you for not entering the school building when leaving / collecting children and enabling us to maintain social distancing procedures.  Parents/ guardians who collect P1 & P2 children should please be mindful of social distancing in the school yard and at the lay-by.  Children who travel to and from school by bus are encouraged to wear a face covering, for the safety of themselves and others. Disposable facemasks are available for the children in school if required. We will continue to walk the children who are collected by car down to the hall car-park at 3.00pm, we are very pleased that this system has worked so well, thank-you for parking in the designated areas.

This has been a very different start to our school year, however, our staff and pupils have worked diligently in this "new normal", their efforts have to be very highly commended. We appreciate your continued support in all school matters as we all endeavour to remain in school and continue with educating the future generation of Kildress.

Kind regards,

the staff of St Joseph's, Killeenan.
